Beginner Band Solo Contest Success!
Our Beginner Band students competed in their first ever solo contest this weekend and did a fantastic job! They worked very hard to prepare their music and performed beautifully. We are so proud of them for having the courage to perform, for pushing themselves outside of their comfort zones, and for growing so much as musicians during the process!
First EVER GISD All-Star Band Members!
This April, 70 of our Beginner Band students competed against over 500 other GISD beginner band students to earn a chair in the first EVER GISD Beginner All-Star Band. They prepared scales and an etude and performed in front of 3 judges to earn a spot in one of the bands. We are so proud of how hard they worked, how much strength they showed by showing up, and for the amazing amount of growth they gained as musicians throughout the process. We can't wait to hear their performance in a few weeks! Congratulations to the 43 students who earned a chair in the band - the most from any school in GISD!

Our Wind Symphony received unanimous Superior ratings from judges for their stage performance and overall Excellent ratings for their sightreading performance. We are so proud of all the students for their hard work in preparation for these incredible performances.
Advanced Band Solo & Ensemble Success!

On Saturday, February 25, 100 of our Advanced Band students participated in the Solo & Ensemble Contest at Austin Academy. We are so proud of ALL of them for their preparation, growth, and courage throughout this process. We are excited to announce that we had 91 students earn a first division rating from their judge! 21 of those students received a 1+ rating and were also nominated for Outstanding Soloist in their room. 3 of our students were selected as THE Outstanding Soloist in their room for the entire day. An extra special congratulations goes to Mak Korenek, Trapper Rohde, and Valeria Salinas for earning the Outstanding Soloist award!
GISD All-District and TMEA Region 3 All-Region Band Auditions
Throughout the entire fall semester, our Wind Symphony students learned, practiced, and perfected their scales and music for the GISD All-District and TMEA Region 3 All-Region Band auditions. They competed twice for a spot in one of the bands and we are thrilled that we had 29 students earn a chair in the All-District and/or the All-Region Band. We are so proud of their hard work, courage during the audition, and growth throughout this entire process!
2022 YESE Beginner Solo Contest
Our Beginner Band students competed at their very first Solo Contest in May. They worked so hard for weeks to perfect their solos, practiced with a live accompanist, and performed for the judges. They represented our band program and our school so well by dressing up, clearly introducing themselves, performing well, and behaving like classy ladies and gentlemen. We are so proud of them for the courage they showed during this contest! They have bright futures in the Hudson Band!

Hudson Bands Make GISD History!
All 3 of our Advanced Bands attended the UIL Concert & Sightreading Evaluation the week of April 1, 2019. All 3 bands worked very hard to prepare their music and practiced their sightreading skills all year long. They all had beautiful stage performances and did a wonderful job in the sightreading room. We are thrilled to say that for the first time in school history, ALL 3 HUDSON BANDS EARNED THE SWEEPSTAKES AWARD AT UIL! This is incredible and not an easy feat to accomplish. We were the only band at our entire contest who received this honor and one of only 3 bands in the entire region. We are so proud of these students and impressed with how much they have grown musically over the course of this year. Congratulations!!!
